Established in 1911, this is the city’s only downtown university. The Health Science Center was formed by the consolidation of five medical schools and schools of dentistry and pharmacy. Students study in disciplines including allied health sciences, health science engineering, dentistry, graduate health sciences, medicine, nursing and pharmacy.

The University is the state’s flagship comprehensive research institution with the vision of being the preeminent public research and teaching university linking the people of Tennessee to the nation and world.
